Gulf Development Group was founded in 1994 by its President and CEO, David F. Dickerson. Mr. Dickerson had spent the preceding seventeen years building and Insurance practice in Southwest Florida which also remains operational today.
Initially, Gulf Development Group established its reputation as a luxury home builder in Southwest Florida, but today the company is moving in a new direction. Having developed a comprehensive business plan to create quality affordable workforce housing, the company plans to contribute to the economic sustainability of Southwest Florida and other regions in the State. Drawing on its extensive experience and expertise, Gulf Development Group has designed what it feels is a compelling business opportunity known as its Affordable Workforce Housing Initiative. This is a comprehensive plan that will enable the company to provide a valuable service to benefit moderate income households and the entire community at large.
With over 13 years of experience building luxury homes in Southwest Florida, Gulf Development Group will use its knowledge, and contacts to build affordable housing for Florida’s workforce. Homes will be quality built with many of the same features found in higher price point homes built by the company. But this new line of single and multi-family homes, are designed to meet the needs of moderate income households which are rapidly being closed out of the local housing market as a result of wages failing to keep pace with rising housing costs.
Gulf Development Group's Affordable Workforce Housing Initiative was drafted with the intent of moving the company forward into the workforce housing market in a significant way. The goal is to establish a leadership role in the field and over time, expand operations statewide and beyond. Finding and producing effective long term solutions to alleviate this housing crisis, will have positive impact on both the cost and availability of goods and services for Floridians moving into the future.
